Inauguration of Solarization Projects at Three Hospitals in Ghana

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) has successfully inaugurated solar power systems at three hospitals in Ghana, marking a significant advancement in healthcare infrastructure. The projects include a 61KWp system at Finney Hospital, a 21KWp system at Barnor Memorial Hospital, and a 30KWp system at Mother-Love Hospital.

Implemented in collaboration with local solar energy company Tradeworks Limited, and with technical support and co-funding from the ECOWAS Special Intervention Fund (ESIF), these solar installations are designed to provide uninterrupted power supply to the hospitals. This initiative is expected to enhance healthcare services by mitigating the impact of power outages.

The inauguration ceremony at Finney Hospital was attended by key figures, including Mr Seth Mahu, Director for Renewable Energy, representing Ghana’s Honourable Minister of Energy; Mr Kofi Agyarko, Director for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency at the Energy Commission of Ghana; Mr Jean Francis Sempore, Executive Director of ECREEE; Dr Allen Steele-Dadzie, Chief Medical Director of Finney Hospital; and Mr. Randy Sey, CEO of Tradeworks Limited.
